Spanish missionaries has a lots of contributions here in the Philippines. In that case they made the Philippines to become a wealth country and to open the minds of every Filipinos here in the Philippines but that's not the point ^_^, if the Spanish missionaries contributed here in the Philippines? What are those things that they contributed? That's what I'm talking about :D.
Some of the Spanish missionaries don't just went to the Philippines to have some foods in here but some of the missionaries are fat not because of the foods in here but because of the foods in the Spanish. Ok, change topic but before I proceed to my blog entry let's remember all the Spanish missionaries who went here. They are the Franciscans, Dominicans, Jesuits and Recollects.
*Contributions of the Spanish Missionaries*
1. Founders of town
the Spanish missionaries founded many cities and towns here as you go in some places here in the Philippines you will notice that some of the streets are Spanish name. They made every street as Spanish name.
2. Engineers of the Infrastructure Projects
Spanish Missionaries build roads, bridges, forts and irrigation dams. They are very skillful to do those things here .. :]
3. Agriculturists
Spanish Missionaries are resourceful they plant new crops from the other country here in the Philippines just like corn, coffee, cacao, tomatoes, squash, lima beans, achuete, guavas, peanuts, chico, papaya, potatoes, cincamas, cabbage, eggplant, pineapple, sugarcane, and wheat. That is the reason why is the Philippines are so wealth in crops. Thank you for the crops Spanish Missionaries, because of that Filipinos are wealth in agricultural harvests.
4. Industrialists
Spanish Missionaries taught the Filipinos how to catch fish, weaving, mining, farming, and metal-work which increased the productivity of the Philippines.
5. Architects
There are lots of beautiful churches in the Philippines during the Spanish era with Byzantine, Graeco-Roman, Ionan, Doric, Corinthian, Baroque, and Gothic architectural designs. Because of that design some of the houses and churches here in the Philippines had Gothic design.
6. Social Workers
Because of the religious manner of the Filipinos they had a concern to the welfare of the sick, the orphaned and the abandoned children. Those people received good care from the Filipinos during the Spanish era. The first hospital by the Franciscans priests was the Hospitalito de Anne even new orphanage are made.
7. Educators
the first university here in the Philippines was established, it is the University of Santo Tomas. Separation of the schools from boys to girls are also made during that time. Even our native dialects contains a word of Spanish origin like mesa, silla, horas, campana, azucar, ventana, and others. There are policies to be enforced in the country:
a. a school for each town
b. a school for teacher trainees
c. free primary education
d. the teaching of the Spanish language in all schools
8. Scientists
Knowledge in the sciences from Europe during the 19th century was brought to the Philippines by the Spanish missionaries. The fields that are studied are the chemistry, physics, botany, zoology, herbal medicine, cartography, and meteorology, and wrote books on these subjects. The first director of the earthquakes was the Fr. Federico Faura. He also invented the barometer, while the barocyclometer was invented by his successor, Fr. Jose Algue.
9. Obras Pias
Before the first bank established there were already obras pias in the Philippines. Back to my last blog, obras pias was loaning of money and you will have to pay it before the due date if you do not pay that on the exact date your money that you lone will interest 20% to 50%.
10. Writers
Spanish friars were linguists, grammarians, writers, playwrights, historians, poets, chroniclers, novelists, essayists, and biographers. They studied our native dialects like Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano and others.
11. Printers
Filipinos learned the art of printing by the Spanish Missionaries. The first printing press in the Philippines was introduced by the Dominican friars in the year of 1593. The first Filipino printer was Tomas Pinpin. He trained under Dominican printers. Fr. Francisco Blancas de San Jose was Dominican printer who trained Tomas Pinpin. Pinpin became the "Prince of Filipino Printers". He also wrote the first Tagalog book, the Doctrina Christiana en Lengua Espanola y Tagala. Published in Manila, 1593.
12. Librarians and Curators
The oldest museum here in the Philippines that still existing, established at the University of Santo Tomas.
13. Musicians
Lots of the missionaries were musically inclined. The most famous musician was Fr. Diego Cerra, he is a recollect priest who built the world famous bamboo organ of Las Pinas in 1824.

"Economic Policies of Spanish Government"

-Polo Y Servicious
This is what we call forced labor where the polista are required to attend this. 16-60 years old were the age that is going to join this forced labor to the government for about 40 days each year. The polistas were building roads, bridges, churches, forests, and then the galleon ships. Being a polista was hard because they are working but the Spaniards don't pay them in the right price and sometimes they don't got a money from the Spaniards. Only the principalia and aristocracy or the upper class was exempted to these forced labor. The gobernadorcillo, teachers, and rich people are under in the principalia. But the aristocrats was required to pay the falla for the exchange for being exempted in forced labor.
-Bandala System
The Filipinos were required or forced to sell their agricultural harvests to the government in a cheap price and then the government will sell it back to them in a higher price that is what we called the bandala system.
-Tobacco Monopoly
The tobacco monopoly was established by Governor-General Jose Basco. It's aim was to increase government revenue because the annual subsidy received from Mexico was no longer sufficient to maintain the colony. The provinces that is under the tobacco monopoly was the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Sur and Marinduque.
The tobacco monopoly suceeded in its goal of increasing government revenue. the tobacco monopoly was resulted in food shortages because planting of rice and crops was neglected and only the tobacco was allowed to plant. the system was abolished by Governor General Primo de Rivera in 1882.
-The Galleon Trade
the galleon trade was also called Manila-Acapulco Trade. It was named after the trading ship that sailed from Acapulco to Manila, and vice-versa. The galleon trade left Manila with a rich cargo of Chinese silk and porcelain; Philippine cloth, hemp, cigars, and wood carvings, and other oriental goods brought to Manila from Asian countries such as chinaware, perfumes, and rugs. These goods were shipped to Acapulco. Someone can only join the galleon trade if they have a boleta cost 250 pesos. The boleta was like a ticket for the illustragos for joining the galleon trade.
-Royal Subsidy
The Spanish colonial government found itself short of funds to support the expenses of the government. The king of the Spain will give money to the governor-general of the Philippines to support the expenses but that is not true. The governor-general of the Philippines were just betraying the king of Spain for their own needs not for the needs of the Filipinos.
-Tributes
The tributes is the taxes that the people were about to pay to the government. If the people can't pay in cash they can pay in kind just like tobacco, rice, and other crops. 18 years old were required to have a cedula or poll tax so that they can pay their own taxes.
-Obras Pias and the Rise of Banks
The first financial groups in Manila were the Obras Pias. The obras pias served as banks which were run by the Spanish Missionaries. They loaned money to the banks and charged in the interests of 20% to 50%. The first bank in the Philippines was in Manila called the "Rodriguez Bank" but it is not existing today but the oldest bank that is existing today is the "Bank of the Philippine Islands".
-The Encomienda
The Encomienda was taken by the Spanish word encomendar means "to entrust". The encomienda was a privilege granted by the King of Spain to Spaniards who contributed to the colonization of the Philippines as a reward for services rendered. The holder of this privilege had the right to control a certain territory, including its residents. He was called encomendero. The encomendero protects the encomienda. The two kinds of the encomiendas was the private and royal. Private encomiendas were those that belonged to the King's official. The royal encomiendas were those that belonged to the King of Spain. This is abolished at the 19th century.
-Opening of the Philippines to World Trade and Foreign Investment
This new policy improved the Philippines economy. As a result of this opening to world trade, foreign investment poured into the country. American and European traders cae to open new businesses in the Philippines. There were already 15 foreign companies in Manila-seven British, three Americans, two French, two Swiss, and one German.
-Improvement in Agriculture
The participation of the Philippines in world trade resulted in increased agricultural production. Batangas became known for its coffee, Isabela for its tobacco, Laguna and Tayabas for their coconuts, Bicol for its abaca plantations, and Negros for its sugar haciendas.
-Improvement in the Standard of Living
The opening of the Philippines to world trade brought economic prosperity to the people. Trade between the Philippines and other countries resulted in an increased income, as well as a general improvement in their standard living. It bacame fashionable to have a house with a red tile roof, an azotea(balcony) and a patio(yard). others were foods, shoes, hats, jewelry, pianos, and nice clothes. For traveling they used tranvias(street cars pulled by horses).
-Transportation and Comunication
The construction of roads and bridges bacame necessary to facilitate the transportation of goods in the country. The first farola or lighthouse was built at the mouth of the Pasig River to guide ships at sea. The first railroad built was the Manila-Dagupan Railway. The first street car called tranvia.

"The Way I Loved You"

I miss screaming and fighting
And kissing in the rain
And it's 2a.m. and I'm cursing your name
You're so in love that you act insane
And that's the way I loved you

Breaking down and coming undone
It's a roller coaster kinda rush
And I never knew I could feel that much
And that's the way I loved you

"Soulmate"

A Soul mate is a perfect bond,
But what exactly may that be?
Well, I pondered it with you in mind.
And here's what it means to me.

When I pass through this world,
if for a time, you fear I'm gone.
Just know that we exist somewhere,
And we're always living on.

My love for you, it has no end,
and will never go away.
Our existence's are in Gods time,
and this is where they'll stay.

Gods children he made perfect,
and he gave us all the perfect gift.
the ability to have our soul mate,
who will for infinity uplift.

You are a gift from god to me,
of this I have no doubt.
I will climb the highest mountain top
And from its grandeur I shall shout.

That's its written in the cosmos
as its written here on earth.
That we were destine for each other
from the moment of our birth.

We are Alpha and Omega
Infinitely tiny in Gods name,
To feel joy and progress in his likeness,
As our love is one in same.

And "in" Gods love, our souls have mixed,
the ultimate inevitable played out,
perhaps taking all of time itself,
but that it has, no doubt.

And we are here right now "in" truth.
with wondrous experiences in stow
an infinite amount in fact, my dear.
and the entire time you'll glow.

In the matrix your my Trinity,
in 300...! your my Queen!
In Star Wars you're my Princess Leia,
And in others, as we deem.

I know for sure now, there's a place,
For "Our particle" of never ending sizes,
Where we exist in unison,
And share infinite sunrises.

"Tired and Can't Speak"

My troat hurts everytime I speak. I don't know what is the cure in this illness. Having a tonsilities is hard, all the things are so hard but I'm so thankful because I can sing in our practice in Glee Club. It is so tiring because we practice on our interpretative dance for our "Buwan ng Wika" the song kapaligiran. It is so happy while we are practicing the dance but it also tiring even though we lough for every dance step that we have made specially my part with my partner.

I remember that Sir Noel Delos Reyes that when you have a tonsilities or your voice is not exactly your real voice you must eat a "Chocolate with Almonds" so that your voice will be back and you can feel well. I just want to try that medicine but I don't have enough time to buy a Chocolate with Almonds. Maybe next time I will buy in the grocery so that I can sing properly in the program.

"Comparison of Christianity and Islam Faith"

"If I don't have a religion and I'm going to choose, CHRISTIANITY or ISLAM FAITH?"
for me I can't choose one in that two religion but I still believing to God. Those relationship to God is just the same but different God that is worshiping.

-here is my comparison with that two relationship to God-
*CHRISTIANITY vs. ISLAM FAITH*

Christianity is a relationship to their God Jesus but Islam faith is a religion of worshiping their God Allah. Christianity is more common than the Islam faith. Most of the people that is member of Islam faith are in Mindanao while Christianity are commonly in Luzon or in other region.

Me, a christian are keeping our relationship with God and obeying him. I always pray for his blessing for me and for my family. Being chriatianity is a good hobby for us to be closed with God forever, like Islam faith Christianity also have their teachings and practices.

"Teachings and Practices of Islam"

The teachings and Practices of Islam are important for the Islam people. Islam is the one of the most known religion here in the Phili[ppines. Their teachings and practices are done by them with obey. All of the Islam oby their teachings and practices of Islam. Islam don't eat "dinuguan" because of their faith. They have their practices like standing, kneeling, sitting, bowing, praising, and lying when they are in the Mosque. They praise their God Allah, the leader of their faith Imam and the prophet Muhammad.

"Jose Rizal" ( a film review )

-"Summary of the Film"-
Jose Protasio "Pepe" Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda or known "Jose Rizal" was a Filipino writer who wrote a novels. His novels are all about for the Spaniards that living in the Philippines and to brighten the minds of all Filipinos from the harshly doings of the Spaniards. Jose Rizal take a Course of Doctor in University Of Sto. Tomas and continued his studies in Europe. When he was a child his first teacher was his mother "Teodora Alonso". Dr. Jose Rizal was intelligent and have a pride to his self or in Spanish we called "Amor Propio". Hia brother Paciano Mercado was the first who tell about the hashly doing of the Spaniards to Filipino. Spaniards was angry to Mercado's Family because of Paciano that is living with Padre Burgos who is died because of sin that is not made by Padre Burgos, because of that problem Pepe decided to change his name to protect his self. Paciano gave Pepe a name of "Jose Rizal Mercado y Alonso". Rizal was prisoned in Fort Santiago, 1896. He has a lawyer named Luis Taviel de Andrade. when he was in Fort Santiago he do not stop writing novels but when his novels is discovered by the Spaniards, all his book was burned by the Spanish Padre. Rizal has a prisoner servant named Gabriel, Gabriel attentively listens in Rizal's story about his life. When Rizal's mother had a cataract Rizal cured it because Rizal is an Optical Doctor. Rizal had a wife named Josephine Bracken but when Rizal and Josephine had a chils their child died exactly the day that it was born. Before the day that Riazal will be killed by the Spaniards December 29,1896 , Ibarra (Simoun) showned to Rizal and said, "Keep Writing" Rizal write his last book entitled "Ang Huling Paalam" and changed Ibarra's story in his novel. December 30,1896 the day that Rizal Would be killed, Rizal talked to his Mother and gave a lamp. Rizal also talked to Luis Traviel de Andrade and gave a Necklace but Taviel didn't accept it and let Rizal to keep it then Rizal was killed in Bagumbayan and Andres Bonifacio: the fonder of the Katipunan killed the Spaniards including Padre Damazo with his members in KKK then Emilio Aguinaldo was become the President of the Philippines.
Rizal's novels was: "NOLI ME TANGERE", "EL FILIBUSTERISMO" , and "ANG HULING PAALAM". His Newspaper was: "LA SOLIDARIDAD" and "LA LIGA FILIPINA".

-"PERSONNAL DEVELOPMENT"-
The story was great. Rizal was too brave to do that in his own country. I think be do that because of his love in the Philippines and Filipinos. He has a lot of pride in his self. His heroic deed was a good example for the Filipino. I understand most of the part but some are not clarrified to me. Rizal was so intelligent but the thing that done to himis not good and not accurate for Rizal because he is the one who saved Philippines from the harshly doing of the Spaniards but the Spaniards don't want to accept their mistake but I'm happy because the Philippines today have a democracy.

"What Customs of the early Filipinos are still practice? Are they still practical in keeping with moden times?"

Traditional way of behaving or acting is the Filipino customs. They are still practice because of the traditional way that are early ancestors teach on our fore fathers, but what are the traditions that Filipinos have? Here are some of our traditions?
1.Being hospitality. Filipinos are known beacause of their being hospitality.
2.Being lazy. Actually Filipinos have this tradition. All filipinos have this kind of tradition.
3.Using the "po" and "opo". This tradition was also familiar to all the people's only Filipinos have this tradition. Obeying others specially the Old was important to Filipinos to trait them by obeying them.

This practices are practical everyday and everytime. But not all the traits that filipinos have. Other Filipinos do not show their being hospitality to others and they do noy obey the eldest people. It is the way that Filipinos have their bad doings but they don't accept their mistakes. But a Filipino like me using these all traits specially to our teachers, my parents and other old peoples that I am related with.

"Population Explosion of the Philippines"

Population explosion is considered as one of the undisputable alarming obstacles that stand on the path of the less developed countries. These countries produce great numbers in terms of human resources because the birth rate is much higher than in the rich countries, but the rate of employment and production in the poor countries is very low. Definitely this is a very serious problem that the government should never take for granted. The Philippines belong to the group of these “less developed countries.” And as we all know, the growth of population in our country is unstoppable. In fact, the Philippine population is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. It is estimated that 3,000 Filipino babies are born every day, 100,000 every month, or one million a year to roun.

I'm so confused because of the words that I need to memories. Specially those scientist around the world that teacher Luz told to us to memories and the definition of Science, Science law and theory. Also the assignment that Sir Noel told to us that we have to memorize the preamble. I don't know if you know the preamble but that's too short for me but the words are too deep so I mistaken the words I said in every paragraph. I hope that I will got a high and pass score in our test tomorrow in T.L.E. and in MAPEH. I'm confident that I will pass the score but too nervous too take it. I also want to pass my score on our test in Science this coming Friday.
